Spotted Elk is a private calendar application built for one family's personal use. It is not a public product, and access is limited to people who have been given an account. This page explains what information the app collects and how it's used.
If you add a phone number, it is used only to (1) send you a daily calendar digest text, and (2) let you text calendar items or to-do items into the app and receive a response. Messages are delivered through our SMS provider, Twilio.
We do not sell, rent, or share your phone number with any third party for marketing or any other purpose. It is used solely to operate this feature.
Message frequency: up to one digest message per day (if enabled), plus one reply for each message you send in. Message and data rates may apply.
Opting out: remove your phone number at any time in Admin → People to stop all text messages, or reply STOP to any message.
Data is stored in a private database, accessible only to family members with a login. It is never made public.
To operate the app, we use Supabase (database and sign-in), Anthropic's Claude (to help turn pasted or texted text into structured calendar/to-do details), Google Maps (for address lookup on event locations), and Twilio (for text messaging). These providers process data only as needed to provide their service to us — none of them are given data for any purpose beyond that.
